Let’s be honest, cooking three meals a day while managing work, family, and everything else life throws at you is exhausting. And ordering takeaway every night isn’t the answer either. That’s exactly why more and more households are choosing to hire a personal chef. Not as a luxury, but as a practical decision that saves time, improves health, and genuinely makes daily life better. At Alliance Recruitment Agency, we’ve helped hundreds of families, executives, and private households find the right chef, someone who fits naturally into their home and routine, not just someone who can cook.

A personal chef isn’t the same as having a caterer show up for a dinner party. It’s much more personal than that.
Think of it this way, a personal chef comes to your home, learns what you and your family actually enjoy eating, understands your dietary restrictions, and builds meals around your life. They shop for ingredients, cook fresh, and leave your kitchen cleaner than they found it. Some work five days a week. Others come in three times a week and batch-cook meals for the rest. It depends entirely on what works for you.
The biggest difference between hiring a chef yourself and going through a recruitment agency? The work that happens before you ever meet a candidate. Background checks, reference calls, skills verification — we do all of that upfront so you’re only ever meeting people who are genuinely qualified and trustworthy.
There’s no single answer, because a personal chef’s salary depends on what the role actually involves. These are the five things that move it most:
A chef cooking two or three days a week costs considerably less than full-time cover. Many households start part-time and increase once they see how it works.
Live-in roles usually carry a lower cash salary because accommodation forms part of the package. Live-out roles are paid at full market rate.
A chef experienced in serious allergy management, plant-based, low-FODMAP or medically-directed diets commands more, simply because fewer chefs do it well.
Roles for high-profile households, where confidentiality and NDA terms apply, draw from a smaller pool and are priced accordingly.
Market rates differ sharply by city, and a chef with fine-dining or private-estate background is priced above someone moving across from a restaurant kitchen.
Tell us your household — how many people, how many days, any dietary requirements, and we’ll give you a realistic salary range on the first call, before you commit to anything. We’d rather tell you honestly what the market looks like than have you interview candidates you can’t hire.
We get asked this a lot. And the honest answer is, we care more about the match than the placement.
Plenty of agencies will send you a shortlist and call it done. We don’t work that way. Before we recommend anyone, we spend time understanding your household. How many people are you cooking for? Are there allergies? What cuisines do you actually enjoy? Do you want someone quiet in the background or someone who’ll chat while they cook? These things matter more than most people realise when you’re inviting someone into your home regularly.
Every chef we put forward has been background checked, had their references personally verified, and gone through a qualifications review. We have genuine experience placing across the full range of household types — young families, larger estates, and households with serious allergy or dietary requirements.
And once someone’s placed? We stay involved. If something isn’t quite right in the first few weeks, we want to know. That’s just how we do things.
Step 1 – Tell us what you need
A quick call or message is all it takes to get started. Tell us about your household, your preferences, and what you’re looking for in a chef. This part usually takes about 20 minutes.
Step 2 – We find the right candidates
We go into our network, search for chefs who genuinely match what you’ve described, vet them properly, and put together a shortlist. You won’t receive 15 CVs to wade through — just two or three strong options.
Step 3 – You meet them
Interview the candidates at your convenience. If you’d like to see them actually cook before committing, we can arrange a trial session. Most clients find this incredibly helpful.
Step 4 – Placement and support
Once you’ve decided, we handle the paperwork and stay in touch to make sure the placement is going well. If something isn’t right in the first few weeks, we replace at no further charge.
Who cook daily meals for your family- breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all three- including weekly meal prep where that suits your routine better than daily cooking.
Based full-time at your property. This works well for larger estates, villas and households that entertain frequently. For a chef working exclusively for one household full-time, see private chef hire.
For households needing three or four days a week rather than every day. Surprisingly common and very practical.
For busy professionals who want healthy, well-prepared meals at home without thinking about it.
Experienced in cooking for specific health needs — serious allergy management, plant-based, low-FODMAP, diabetic-friendly or medically-directed diets.
For clients who need absolute confidentiality and professionalism at all times. We’ve placed chefs for high-profile households and take this seriously, including NDA terms where required.
Honestly? A wider range of people than you might expect.
Yes, some of our clients are wealthy individuals with large households. But we also work with regular families who’ve simply decided that outsourcing the cooking makes their lives significantly better. We work with parents of young children who don’t have time to cook nutritious meals consistently. We work with people recovering from illness who need careful, medically guided meal preparation. We work with elderly clients who want proper home-cooked food rather than ready meals.
The one thing they all have in common, they wanted someone they could trust in their home, and they wanted a recruitment agency that would take that seriously.
We place household chefs internationally as well as locally, including private chefs in Dubai and across the Gulf, and can source Indian chefs where a household wants a specific regional cuisine.
Tell us about your household — how many people, how many days, any dietary requirements. Twenty minutes on the phone and we’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic.
“I was nervous about the whole process – having someone new in the house felt strange at first. But Alliance were brilliant from the start. They took the time to understand what our family actually needed and found us a chef who’s been with us for nearly two years now. Best decision we made.”
“We have a family member with serious food allergies, so finding a chef who understood that properly was really important. Alliance Recruitment Agency found us exactly the right person. She’s incredible and the whole family adores her.”
“Highly recommended! The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the whole experience felt truly special.”

The terms get used interchangeably but there is a distinction. A personal chef often works across a few different clients in a week, cooking meals in batches or on set days. A private chef works exclusively for one household, usually full-time. Both are available through us, depending on what suits you.
Most placements are completed within two to four weeks. If you need someone urgently or have very specific requirements, let us know upfront, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic.
Most do, yes. Shopping, meal planning, and kitchen management are typically included in a personal chef’s role. It’s worth discussing specifics during the interview stage so expectations are clear from day one.
Absolutely. Many of our clients begin with two or three days and adjust from there. We have chefs available for everything from one day a week to full-time live-in positions.
Every chef goes through identity verification, a criminal background check, personal reference checks, and a review of their culinary qualifications before we ever share their details with a client. We don’t cut corners on this.
It depends mainly on hours, whether the role is live-in or live-out, and whether you need a dietary specialist. Tell us about your household on a short call and we’ll give you a realistic salary range for your area before you commit to anything.
Yes, and it’s one of the most common specific requests we get. We shortlist chefs with demonstrable experience in allergy management and dietary-restricted cooking, and verify it at reference stage rather than taking it from a CV.
Yes. We place live-in chefs at primary residences, estates and villas, including households that move between properties seasonally. Accommodation arrangements and travel expectations are agreed as part of the role before we start searching.
