Hire permanent staff in South Africa, screened for your role, your sector and your employment equity plan. We recruit professional, technical and management talent for employers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and nationally, and source specialist skills internationally when the local market runs short. Tell us the role and the salary band, and we return a shortlist.
We screen candidates against the requirements that matter to your business, including qualifications, sector experience, salary expectations, notice period, location, and role-specific skills. Whether you are filling a single vacancy or building a larger team, we provide a focused shortlist to help your hiring managers move from candidate search to interview faster.

A recruitment agency in South Africa finds, screens and places staff for employers, and in this market it also has to work within the country’s employment equity framework.
That is the first thing that sets South Africa apart. Employers covered by the Employment Equity Act plan hiring against equity targets, and many also weigh B-BBEE scorecards. A shortlist that ignores those plans wastes the client’s time, however strong the candidates.
The second is the skills gap. South Africa has deep talent in finance, mining, engineering and professional services, and real shortages in specialist technical and healthcare roles. For those roles, the honest answer is sometimes to hire internationally, using the critical skills route.
The third is the word “agency” itself. Many South African agencies are labour brokers, supplying temporary workers who stay on the broker’s payroll. We are not a labour broker. We place permanent employees on your payroll, and we are paid once, on placement.
For our wider African work, see our recruitment agencies South Africa page.
South African hiring usually goes wrong at the offer stage, not the shortlist. A strong candidate accepts and then takes a counter-offer, or a salary band set a year ago meets a market that has moved. We benchmark the band and discuss equity requirements before sourcing. That makes the first conversation longer and the offers far more likely to hold.
What It Costs:
Our fee is a percentage of the hire’s first-year salary, agreed in writing before the search starts and payable on placement. For several roles of the same type, we agree a fixed per-placement fee in advance. Candidates never pay a fee.
How Long It Takes:
Professional and commercial roles: shortlist within 24-48 hours of an agreed brief, joining typically within 4 to 8 weeks, allowing for one-calendar-month notice periods. Senior and executive searches: 10 to 21 days to shortlist. International hires add time for the critical skills work visa process.
Finance, legal, HR, operations and general management roles for South African employers.
Mining, mechanical, electrical and civil engineers, plus technicians, screened on discipline and site experience.
Shortlists built with your employment equity plan in mind, not against it.
Where a skill is genuinely scarce locally, we source internationally, including from India, and coordinate the work visa process through to arrival.
Roles across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and the wider region through one point of contact.
Every hire joins your payroll. We are not a labour broker, we do not supply temporary or contract staff, and we do not invoice monthly per head.
We establish the role, the salary band, the location, the reporting line and any employment equity requirements for the appointment. Those shape the entire search.
What your band attracts in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban, and whether the role can realistically be filled locally.
Direct sourcing, screened on capability, qualifications, notice period, salary expectations, and fit with your equity plan. Three to five candidates per role.
We coordinate interviews and any assessments, and manage candidate communication throughout.
Counter-offers are common in South Africa’s professional market. We stay in contact through the whole notice period, not just until acceptance.
We check in with you and the new hire at 30, 60 and 90 days. Every permanent placement also carries a 90-day replacement guarantee: if the hire leaves within 90 days of accepting the offer, we re-run the search at no additional fee.
Tell us the role, location, salary range, and hiring timeline. We’ll build a focused shortlist of candidates matched to your requirements.

Where a shortlist that ignores the plan is not a shortlist.
Where international sourcing under the critical skills route may be the only real answer.
Usually a salary band problem that shows up in week one if anyone looks.
First hires into a new operation, where early appointments set the standard.
A different model from labour broking, and often a deliberate decision.
One accountable agency instead of one per market.
Equity-Aware From the First Call:
Employment equity requirements are scoped before sourcing starts.
Local Search First, International When It Is the Right Answer:
We only recommend international sourcing when the local market genuinely cannot supply the skill.
Deep Access to Indian Talent:
Our strongest source market, useful when a scarce technical skill is needed.
16+ Years, 36+ Countries, 9,000+ Organisations Served:
South African hiring inside a network that covers the region and the world.
Not a Labour Broker:
You employ the people we place. No monthly per-head margin.
We Tell You When the Band Will Not Fill the Role:
You will hear that in week one, not week eight.
South African employers describe one failure more than any other. A capable candidate is found, interviewed and offered the role, and then accepts a counter-offer from their current employer. The search starts again, and the natural conclusion is that the agency brought the wrong people. More often, the salary band had drifted behind the market, and nobody checked before sourcing began.
So we benchmark first, and we raise employment equity requirements in the first conversation rather than after the shortlist. It is slower at the start. It is also why our offers tend to be accepted rather than used as leverage.
We needed to hire several employees in South Africa and wanted a recruitment partner who could handle the initial screening for us. Alliance understood our requirements and sent us relevant candidates rather than a long list of unsuitable profiles. The process was straightforward and communication was consistent.
Alliance helped us recruit for multiple positions as our team was expanding in Johannesburg. Their recruiters took the time to understand the roles and provided candidates who matched our experience requirements. We also appreciated the support with verification and interview coordination.
We were looking for skilled professionals in a short timeframe and approached Alliance for recruitment support. The team was responsive, kept us updated on candidate progress and made the process easy for our internal HR team. We were able to move forward with suitable candidates without having to manage the entire search ourselves.
