Act as the primary owner for AFOLU Project Emission Reduction (ER) Estimations throughout the project lifecycle including feasibility, investment proposals, and ex-ante stages.
Lead and ensure accuracy in Ex-Ante Credit Benchmarking to support project credibility, enhance investability, and minimize risk.
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Project Leads to create detailed ER Estimation sheets for various AFOLU projects, including ARR (Afforestation, Reforestation & Revegetation), Blue Carbon (Mangroves, Sea Grass), Sustainable Agriculture, IFM (Integrated Forest Management), CCB (Climate, Community & Biodiversity), and REDD+ projects.
Develop, update, and maintain standardized modeling and calculation templates for different AFOLU project categories.
Coordinate inputs from cross-functional teams including SMEs, Finance, and Project Operations to ensure consistency and clarity in ER estimations.
Support the Project Operations team during the validation and verification stages for reconciliation and justification of ER calculations.
Maintain an ongoing repository of ER Benchmarking Data and Analytics from global carbon platforms, industry references, and scientific studies to ensure robust and market-acceptable project estimations.
Conduct internal training sessions to share best practices in ER estimation and calculations.
Maintain a professional and presentable demeanor suitable for a corporate work environment.
Key Competencies:
Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in the Climate and Carbon sector, with significant exposure to voluntary markets, including project development, carbon portfolio management, audits, and benchmarking.
Proven track record of involvement in end-to-end AFOLU projects covering origination, project design, registration, implementation, credit issuance, and trading.
Expertise with voluntary carbon registries like Verra, Gold Standard, GCC, and Cercarbono.
At least 6 years of exclusive experience in Emission Reduction calculations, Ex-Ante estimations, and credit benchmarking for AFOLU projects (ARR, Blue Carbon, SALM, etc.).
Proficiency with ER and Ex-Ante Credit Estimation tools, templates, and methodologies.
Excellent English communication skills are required.
Preferred Candidates:
Candidates with experience in prominent voluntary carbon registries or global carbon rating agencies.
Individuals with a solid background in carbon data analysis and market trends.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, or similar fields.
Master’s degree in Sustainability, Climate, or Carbon-related disciplines is preferred.
